Rosie O'Donnell has responded to Donald Trump's circulation of an AI-generated video featuring her among his celebrity detractors.

The 80-year-old Trump posted the synthetic video on Truth Social last week, targeting prominent entertainers he's clashed with publicly and labeling them as suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome." The fake footage included O'Donnell alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Robert De Niro, Julia Roberts, John Leguizamo, and Edward Norton.

In the manipulated video, a deepfake Rosie declares, "I have been suffering for over a decade and after listening to Dr. Trump, I can see some results."

Speaking with Variety on Wednesday, the 64-year-old entertainer addressed the video head-on. She pointed to Trump's early career, specifically his role on "The Apprentice," as the beginning of a troubling trajectory. "He was allowed to go on a show that was a reality show, and it was sold as fact when it was in fact fiction, because he was broke — one of the many times that he was broke," she explained.

O'Donnell characterized Trump's career as a pattern of disappointment. "This is a man who has been a failure at everything he's ever tried, and he is mediocre beyond mediocre, and the fact that he is running our nation is an abomination," she stated.

She escalated her criticism further, declaring his presidency represents a fundamental crisis for the country. "It's the worst thing that ever happened to our country," O'Donnell said, "and I think it needs to be rectified sooner rather than later if we are to remain a democratic republic."

The clash marks another chapter in O'Donnell and Trump's contentious relationship spanning decades. Their public disputes have been a fixture of celebrity news and politics for years, including exchanges dating back to her appearances on "The View."

The feud has extended into Trump's political career, with him frequently invoking O'Donnell's name during interviews and social media posts. Last year, O'Donnell made headlines after Trump threatened to revoke her citizenship when she relocated to Ireland following the 2024 Presidential Election.
