Marcello Hernandez stepped onto the ESPYs red carpet with his girlfriend Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral by his side on Wednesday, July 15, at David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City, where he's set to host the evening's festivities.

The 28-year-old Saturday Night Live cast member is taking the helm of the ESPY Awards—ESPN's annual Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards celebration.

The pair's relationship began in an unexpected way, as Hernandez explained during an appearance on Jake Shane's podcast Therapuss in February 2026. "We met at a charity event in New York, and a friend of hers wanted me to make a video for her dad because her dad was a fan," Hernandez recalled. "And then she was like — the uncomfortable friend that comes with the friend to do the asking for a video thing. And then I just saw her and I got her Instagram and a year later, we finally went out."

Hernandez was tapped to host the ESPYs in June, marking a significant milestone in his comedy career. "I started doing comedy 10 years ago, in Cleveland, Ohio, and I would take the train 12 hours to New York to sell comedy tickets on the street in Greenwich Village in exchange for stage time," he said in a statement at the time. "It is an honor, and frankly feels crazy to be hosting the ESPYS this year in New York. I'm sure the energy is going to be great."

Before pursuing comedy full-time, Hernandez played soccer while attending John Carroll University.
