Madonna Achieves Milestone 10th No. 1 Album With 'Confessions II,' Shatters Chart Records

Madonna has returned to the top of the Billboard 200 with her latest project.

The 67-year-old pop icon claimed the chart's No. 1 position with Confessions II, as confirmed by the chart company on Sunday, July 12. The album features collaborations and tracks including "Bring Your Love" alongside Sabrina Carpenter, "Danceteria," and "Love Sensation."

In its first week, Confessions II accumulated 134,000 equivalent album units across the United States, according to Luminate data, establishing itself as the year's leading dance album to date. The project marks Madonna's strongest streaming performance for any album release and her most impressive pure sales week in more than a decade.

Breaking down the numbers: the album sold 114,000 units outright—her best sales week since 2012—while accumulating 19,000 on-demand streams, representing her largest streaming week ever for an album release.

This 10th No. 1 album represents a historic achievement. Madonna becomes the first artist ever to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 across four separate decades. Her chart-topping albums span the 1980s (three), 2000s (four), 2010s (two), and now the 2020s. She has also amassed 24 Top 10 albums throughout her career.

The accomplishment places her in rare company. Madonna now joins only three other acts in history to hold at least 10 No. 1 albums on both the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. Among female artists specifically, she becomes the third woman to reach ten No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, following Barbra Streisand and Taylor Swift.
