Luke Wilson Opens Up About Becoming a Father Following Birth of First Child

Luke Wilson is ready to discuss his recent transition to fatherhood.

The 54-year-old actor welcomed his first child this week with girlfriend Kendall Yates, marking a major milestone in his personal life. The news of the arrival came just as Wilson stepped into the spotlight for the premiere of his latest project, the Netflix comedy series The Hawk.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Wilson opened up about his new role as a parent. "It's just what everybody says about it, but I'm just trying to do a good job," he explained. "I'm very proud to be a dad."

Wilson and Yates, 24, have been an item since 2023. The couple made their relationship official on the public stage at the June 2024 premiere party for Wilson's film Horizon: An American Saga. So far, the pair have kept details about their newborn under wraps, with neither the baby's name nor sex disclosed.

The Legally Blonde star brings his talents to The Hawk, where he shares the screen with Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, and Jimmy Tatro. The series arrives on Netflix on July 16.

The show follows Lonnie Hawkins, portrayed by Ferrell, a golfer who ranked number one in 2004 but now finds himself struggling during the latter stages of his career. Despite his body suggesting retirement, Lonnie's competitive spirit remains intact. His ex-wife and son Lance, who has emerged as golf's newest star, believe his time has passed. However, with one final major championship standing between him and completing golf's Grand Slam, Lonnie is determined to prove he has one last great comeback left in him.
