Jelly Roll Opens Up About Overeating and Food Addiction During Divorce

Jelly Roll is getting candid about his battle with compulsive eating patterns.
The 41-year-old country music artist posted a YouTube video on Friday, July 10, where he discussed weight loss advice with a fan and disclosed that he'd been "overeating the last three or four days." He attributed the behavior to stress eating and acknowledged that "the addict in me came out."
Describing his relationship with food in stark terms, Jelly Roll explained how quickly his consumption spirals when he encounters certain triggers. "We had this show at this one spot that I love their catering. They have a dairy-free skillet cookie. I don't eat nothing like that. I'm like a drug addict. You can't eat that, because if I eat one, I eat two. I eat four. Later that night, I'm at the taco truck getting the peanut butter fluff. Next thing I know, we're at the rest stop, I'm looking for a chocolate bar. I'm like, 'Damn, that fast, now I've consumed 2,000 extra calories today that I didn't even see coming,'" he said.
The "Hands Up" artist emphasized that food addiction operates differently than many people realize, noting that achieving significant weight gain requires confronting underlying psychological factors. "You don't become the size you became without having a mental health issue," he stated. "It's something way deeper. It's a different thing. But once you get to that point of really realizing what you're hungry for, everything changes."
Jelly Roll is currently navigating a divorce from Bunnie Xo. During a concert performance in June, he shared that despite the split, he and Bunnie remain "best friends." Bunnie, a podcast host, created an episode discussing their divorce but subsequently removed it from circulation.
