Hayden Panettiere has unexpectedly canceled her scheduled appearance at a fan convention this weekend.

The Scream actress, 36, was set to attend the Creep I.E. Aftermath convention in Ontario, California, but pulled out due to an unforeseen situation. Event organizers announced the cancellation on Instagram Friday (July 10), stating: "Hayden Panettiere has an emergency and will not be able to attend this weekend. We are looking forward to her appearing at an upcoming show."

Face/Off star Dominique Swain will take her place at the event, which runs through Sunday, July 12.

Panettiere has not made a public statement regarding the circumstances, and additional details about the emergency remain undisclosed.
