Florence Pugh Teased for Spider-Man: Brand New Day Role as Yelena

During an appearance at BiliBili World in Shanghai over the weekend, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige dropped a hint about the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day, suggesting that Florence Pugh's Yelena character may factor into the film's narrative.

Feige highlighted that Yelena will play a significant role in the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday, arriving in December. However, the executive then cryptically remarked that fans might encounter the character sooner through theatrical releases.

Given the Marvel release schedule, Spider-Man: Brand New Day stands as the sole project slated before Doomsday's arrival, making it the likely vehicle for Pugh's appearance. The Spider-Man film is scheduled to premiere on July 31.

The 30-year-old Oscar-nominated performer originally introduced Yelena Belova in the 2021 film Black Widow, portraying the adoptive sister of Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff. She subsequently appeared in three episodes of the Disney+ series Hawkeye that same year and headlined Thunderbolts* more recently.

The Spider-Man installment has already confirmed appearances from Mark Ruffalo's Hulk and Jon Bernthal's Punisher.
