Flavor Flav Illuminates Las Vegas Welcome Sign in Pink for Inaugural SHE Weekend Celebration

Flavor Flav marked the launch of the inaugural SHE Weekend by illuminating the legendary "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign in pink during a ceremony held Wednesday morning, July 15, in partnership with Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom.

The Public Enemy rapper and hip-hop icon is hosting over 100 female Olympians throughout the week to honor their accomplishments from this year's winter Olympics. The event represents "Sports, Hospitality, & Entertainment," and was created by Flav and his manager Rhiannon Rae Ellis to ensure female Olympians received proper recognition following their medal-winning performances.

"I am honored to be able to host some of the best female athletes here in Las Vegas for my Flavor Flav She Weekend," Flav said in a statement. "I want to thank everybody who has reached out wanting to get involved…this weekend is gonna be action packed! And to get off a historical celebration by lighting the historical Welcome to Las Vegas sign is the best possible way!"

Commissioner Segerblom echoed the significance of the moment, stating, "Every time we light this sign, we send a message about who we are as a community. Celebrating SHE Weekend and the momentum behind women's sports shows the world that Clark County is a place where all athletes can shine."

Speaking with FOX5 at the ceremony, Flav emphasized the effort behind the initiative. "A lot of love went into this and a lot of hard work went into this," he shared.

The festivities commence Thursday, July 16, with complimentary public programming. Public Enemy will headline a free concert at Toshiba Plaza at 7pm, with performances from Blu DeTiger, Grace Bowers, Mailbox, and additional special guests.

An 8pm parade will depart from 3760 S. Las Vegas Blvd, proceeding down the strip to Bruno Mars Drive before concluding at Toshiba Plaza. At 9pm, an athlete celebration will take place where the female Olympians will receive keys to the Las Vegas Strip.

Throughout the weekend, Flav is treating the athletes to premium entertainment experiences, including private meet-and-greets at the Backstreet Boys concert at The Sphere and Ed Sheeran's performance at Allegiant Stadium.

The weekend's success is supported by major partnerships. MGM Resorts is providing complimentary rooms, hospitality, and entertainment. Delta Airlines, the official airline of TeamUSA, is covering flight expenses. The Joe Lewis Company, the same production firm behind the Grammy Awards and Academy Awards, is producing the event.
