Dwayne Johnson Eyes Broadway Debut, Discusses Potential Odd Couple Revival with Kevin Hart

Dwayne Johnson is setting his sights on the stage.

The 54-year-old actor opened up in a recent interview with People about his aspirations to make his Broadway debut, revealing that he and Kevin Hart have been exploring the possibility of starring together in a revival of the classic comedy The Odd Couple.

"For the past two and a half to three years, we have been working on my Broadway debut," Johnson explained. "I'm revealing it now because it's tequila talking."

Johnson and Hart, 47, had been in talks to bring the iconic play to life through a new production helmed by Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller. However, scheduling conflicts have prevented the project from moving forward at this time.

"We should've been great. Kevin is my best friend. I love him to death, and the truth is he's so booked for the next three to five years," Johnson said. "That's his schedule, that's a reality. I totally get it. And I love it and I respect him for that."

Despite the setback with Hart, Johnson hasn't shelved his Broadway ambitions. The Black Adam star is currently exploring theatrical opportunities with Seller and Thomas Kail, the director behind Hamilton and the upcoming live-action Moana film.

Johnson hinted at the creative possibilities ahead, joking about what his stage debut might entail. "So we'll see, but maybe it's The Odd Couple with Jeffrey. I don't know, maybe it's a musical and I could run around singing in keys that don't exist," he said with a laugh. "I might do a little dance. I might snatch my waist a little bit. We'll see."
