Drake's $1 Million Wager on McGregor Ends in Loss After Quick UFC 329 Upset

Drake's high-stakes bet on UFC 329 didn't pay off.

The 39-year-old musician had wagered $1 million that Conor McGregor would defeat Max Holloway in Saturday's fight (July 11). Ahead of the matchup, Drake shared his confidence on social media with a post celebrating McGregor's return to the octagon.

"THE MAC IS BACK?!?!?? The proper twelve drinking, tailored suit wearing, Lambo Yacht riding man with the Dubai tan that once had both belts in both hands…Say less," Drake wrote before the bout commenced.

The fight proved to be a brief affair. McGregor, competing for the first time in five years, sustained a leg injury early in the opening round. Unable to continue, he was unable to answer the bell, and the referee halted the contest.

The final outcome saw Holloway emerge victorious with a win recorded at the 69-second mark.

Following the loss, McGregor released a statement processing the unexpected turn of events. "I was so sharp and so ready for this fight I cannot believe what has happened. The talk of me being off while walking in to the fight is nonsense. I was calm, ready, and confident. I am in shock what has taken place. The devil is literally staring at me right in front of my face here. I am not engaging. I will be at church tomorrow. I will overcome this. I will not be deterred. I will return," he wrote.

The loss marked a difficult return for the Irish fighter after his extended absence from competition.
