China Anne McClain Takes Broadway Stage as Daisy Buchanan in 'The Great Gatsby' Musical

China Anne McClain is stepping into one of Broadway's most coveted roles. The 27-year-old performer will make her Broadway debut as Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby musical, joining the production on Monday, August 3.

McClain takes over the role from Eva Noblezada, who departs the show on July 26. National tour performer Senzel Ahmady will fill the part from July 27 through August 2, marking her own Broadway debut in the character.

Reuniting with fellow Disney Channel talent, Ryan McCartan returns to the stage as Jay Gatsby. The production also features Corbin Bleu from High School Musical in the role of Nick Carraway.

The actress brings significant screen experience to the part. She's widely recognized for her roles in the Descendants films and the series A.N.T. Farm. Television audiences also know her as Jennifer Pierce / Lightning from the CW's Black Lightning, as well as from appearances in Tyler Perry productions including Daddy's Little Girls and House of Payne.

Beyond acting, McClain maintains an active music career, holding both a solo recording deal and a group deal with the McClain Sisters.

The Great Gatsby production has been running on Broadway for more than two years and is approaching its 1,000th performance milestone. The show runs eight performances weekly.
