Amazon Pulls the Plug on Faith-Based Drama Scoring Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Rating

Amazon has decided to cancel It's Not Like That, ending the faith-based drama just six weeks after it began streaming globally on Prime Video.

The show had earned stellar critical reception, boasting a pristine 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on eight reviews. It starred Scott Foley as Malcolm, a recently widowed pastor raising three children, and Erinn Hayes as Lori, a newly single mother of two teenagers navigating life after divorce.

The cancellation marks a surprising move given the series' strong performance metrics. The drama had secured a spot at No. 9 on Prime Video's global Top 10 rankings and maintained a consistent presence on the platform's daily U.S. Top 10 series list, where it currently ranks at No. 5.

It's Not Like That originated from Parenthood veterans Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson. The ensemble cast also included J.R. Ramirez, Caleb Baumann, Cary Christopher, Leven Miranda, Liv Lindell, and Cassidy Paul.

The series was produced through Amazon's partnership with Wonder Project, the same company behind House of David. It initially launched exclusively on Wonder Project's Prime Video add-on channel in January before expanding to the broader Prime Video audience in May.

The decision to cancel a critically acclaimed show ranking high in viewership metrics underscores the unpredictability of streaming platform strategies.
