Nicholas Galitzine Details Grueling Training Regimen for Masters of the Universe Role

Nicholas Galitzine put his body through a rigorous transformation to embody He-Man in the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe film.
In an interview with E! News, the 31-year-old discussed the demanding preparation required for the iconic role. The actor trained "every day a week," though he noted the overall timeline was compressed compared to what would have been ideal.
"It was a pretty short amount of time. You kind of would love to live in this character for a year beforehand but the training very much changed as the movie went on," Galitzine said.
To achieve the massive physique the production team envisioned, his regimen initially involved consuming up to 5,000 calories daily and dedicating three hours to weightlifting before the approach shifted. The actor described the surreal experience of maintaining peak performance between takes, explaining how he'd sprint outside to use an assault bike during brief 10-minute breaks, then rush back to film action sequences—a pattern that continued for approximately five months.
The challenge intensified once the production began reducing his caloric intake while still demanding high-energy action work. Galitzine acknowledged the mental toll of cutting calories during physically taxing shooting days.
"You have that brain fog," he noted. "So, I definitely felt like that was a thing but especially when you're doing these action set pieces, you've gotta have energy for it."
Following this release, Galitzine has several projects lined up: the sports drama The Mosquito Bowl, the sequel Red White & Royal Wedding, and the thriller The Return of Stanley Atwell.
Masters of the Universe arrives in theaters on June 5.
