Jessica Simpson Addresses Why Her Children Flew in Different Cabin Class Than Her

Jessica Simpson has set the record straight on a story that recently made headlines after her ex-husband Nick Lachey shared details about spotting her on a Hawaii-bound flight.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live!, the 52-year-old 98 Degrees frontman encountered Simpson while traveling on the same aircraft. He noted that Simpson occupied a different cabin class than her three children, suggesting she was in first class while they sat in economy. The kids were traveling with their father at the time.

When asked by Page Six about the seating arrangement, Simpson offered a straightforward explanation for the setup. She revealed that her mother had purchased the tickets for the getaway. "It was my mom's treat for us to go to Hawaii," Simpson said, clarifying that she herself had not bought the airfare.

Pressed further on what her decision would have been had she purchased the tickets herself, Simpson was emphatic. "Of course," she responded when asked if she would have sat with her children.

Simpson shares three children with Eric Johnson: Maxwell, 14, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 7. The couple married in 2014 and announced their separation in January 2025.
