Jeff Bezos is addressing the ongoing speculation surrounding Amazon MGM Studios' documentary about Melania Trump.

The film offers an intimate look at the former First Lady as she prepares for inauguration ceremonies, manages the White House transition process, and relocates her family to Washington. According to the synopsis, it features "exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments."

In a recent CNBC interview, the Amazon founder addressed the recurring narrative that he played a role in greenlighting the project. "The 'Melania' thing is a falsehood that will not die. I see it reported all the time that somehow I was involved in this," Bezos stated. "I had nothing to do with that."

Despite his lack of involvement, Bezos acknowledged the project's commercial success. "By the way, it appears it was a good business decision. It did very well in theaters. It's done very well on streaming. People are very curious about Melania. So even though I had nothing to do with it, it appears that the Amazon team made a very wise business decision," he said. The documentary received mixed critical reception.

Bezos also directly addressed the allegation that Amazon pursued the documentary as a means of cultivating political favor. "He shared that his company did not sign on to the documentary as 'a way of buying influence,' noting, 'I can see why people say this….We have denied it. Melania's office has denied it. It's not true.'"

During the same interview, Bezos reflected on his broader influence and legacy. "If I do my job right, the value to society and civilization from my for-profit companies will be much, much larger than the good that I do with my charitable giving," he said.
