Carly Pearce Reveals She Knew Her Marriage to Michael Ray Was Wrong From Day One

Country artist Carly Pearce has disclosed that doubts about her marriage to Michael Ray surfaced immediately, during her wedding night itself.
The 36-year-old opened up during an appearance on David Begnaud's podcast, The Person Who Believed in Me, discussing the early warning signs that ultimately led to the dissolution of her union. "You know when you just know something's not how it should be? I think everybody in my life knew I had made.. he made it very clear that I had made a very big mistake," she said on the show.
When pressed about why she proceeded with the ceremony despite her reservations, Pearce attributed the disconnect to behavioral patterns she failed to recognize until after the fact. "There was a bit of Jekyll and Hyde behavior that I didn't notice until it was too late," she explained.
Despite the painful experience, the "What He Didn't Do" artist emphasized that she emerged from the situation with a renewed sense of self-worth. "I knew very quickly this was not what I deserved, and I blew up my life to get out of it," Pearce stated. She made clear that external pressures—whether societal expectations, religious doctrine, or public scrutiny—did not factor into her decision to leave. "I didn't stay because society tells you you should. I didn't stay because my faith says divorce is bad. I didn't stay because, 'Oh, it's public, I need to do that.' I was done," she said.
The pair married in 2019 and separated within months of their wedding. Today, Pearce is in a relationship with Jordan Karcher, and the couple made their relationship public on Instagram in July 2025. Pearce has previously discussed her personal struggles with anxiety and OCD.
