90 Day Fiancé Star Jenny Slatten Reveals ALS Diagnosis

The 68-year-old reality television personality from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way has gone public with news of her ALS diagnosis.

Jenny Slatten, who gained recognition through the TLC series for her relationship with now-husband Sumit Singh, met the India-based businessman online and navigated considerable family opposition documented across multiple seasons. The couple married in India and remains together, having first appeared on the franchise in 2019.

Early Warning Signs

Slatten's health concerns began in December 2024 when she experienced a severe choking incident involving water. Following that episode, she and Sumit detailed to People magazine how migraines emerged alongside difficulty swallowing medications. Speech issues followed, with her voice gradually slowing before she stopped speaking altogether.

"That's when we knew something was wrong," Slatten recalled.

Family History and Diagnosis

The reality star's father had died from ALS approximately a decade earlier, prompting the couple to seek medical evaluation. Upon receiving the diagnosis, Slatten shared: "We cried and held each other."

The couple is currently investigating potential treatment approaches. "Right now we're just looking and searching…maybe somebody will come forward with something," they explained.

Understanding ALS

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a neurological condition affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, resulting in progressive muscle control loss. The disease deteriorates over time, with no current cure available. While some patients survive for extended periods, most individuals live between three and five years following diagnosis.
